Lincoln Essay Contest

The Lincoln Essay Contest engages students with basic, democratic ideals as they study one of the most important leaders in the history of our country, Abraham Lincoln. Students of all ages are eligible to participate.

Contest Categories

Kindergarten through 1st Grade – Drawing
2nd through 3rd Grade – Drawing
4th through 6th Grade – Essay
7th through 9th Grade – Essay
10th through 12th Grade – Essay

Drawing Topic

Draw an 8 ½" x 11" picture that expresses the character of Abraham Lincoln and his work.

Essay Topic

Write a 250-word essay on the following: How might an understanding of the character and legacy of Abraham Lincoln help today’s leaders?

Prizes

First place winners in each category will receive $200. Second place winners will receive $150. Third place winners will receive $100. Teachers of first place winners will receive a $250 classroom grant.

BancFirst Lincoln Reference Library

Hours: Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

The Lincoln Reference Library is a collection of approximately 250 books on the life and work of Abraham Lincoln. Students may use the books on site. Teachers may check out books to prepare lesson plans or for use in the classroom.
